Cathy Conner Jordan
Cathy Conner Jordan, aka “C.C. Wari” is an accomplished artist who specializes in india ink etchings of exceptional detail. Cathy has traveled abroad doing work for Zoos and animal parks in the Far East, Europe and the U.S. Her work is currently on display in many parts of the world and is focused on threatened species and threatened places. She donates a portion of her proceeds from sales back to the organizations and or peoples and (Indian) reservations that oversee the animals or places depicted in her work. Her etchings have won awards for their intricate detail and Cathy’s unique ability to transform the boundaries of an ink etching into a wide variety of textures from elephants hides to waterfalls, indian ruins, tigers, and even the glistening of an orca whale. She is known for depicting her subject matter by molding and etching its form into the clay backround of the boards using fine knives and even needles to create the finest possible line. Cathy then applies inks and in some cases oil and/or acrylic paints to create her completed image. Some of the more involved pieces such as the indian ruins can take up to a year to complete. Her works truly seem to live upon the canvases and boards she works with. Technology has finally allowed for the reproduction of this work in a form that does the medium justice in terms of capturing the elaborate detail in each piece.
“There’s a moment when the work seems to come alive and is staring back at me. It’s something that is a little hard to describe but it’s really amazing when it happens.”
Cathy resides in Boise, Idaho and enjoys her artwork as well as photography and is an avid horse-woman and breeder of Oldenburg horses.
